About SVRA & IALR
The Southern Virginia Regional Alliance (SVRA) is based at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR), in Danville, VA, and works with the city of Danville and counties of Halifax, Patrick and Pittsylvania. The SVRA promotes the region through collaborative marketing and public relations efforts to create a strong economy that benefits the citizens of the Southern Virginia Region. This position will report to the IALR Vice President, Economic Development /SVRA Executive Director.
What will you do?
As the Talent Attraction & Retention Coordinator supporting the Economic Development division, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and develop a skilled workforce to support economic growth within the region or community. You will collaborate with various stakeholders including government agencies, educational institutions, businesses, and community organizations to create a robust talent ecosystem that aligns with the economic development goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategy Development: Lead the development of comprehensive talent attraction and retention strategies that support the economic development objectives of the region or community.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders such as local businesses, educational institutions, workforce development agencies, and government entities to understand talent needs and develop initiatives to address them.
Talent Attraction: Implement initiatives to attract top talent to the region, including targeted marketing campaigns, recruitment events, and talent pipelines.
Workforce Development: Work closely with educational institutions and training providers to develop programs that align with the skills needed by local employers. This may include apprenticeship programs, vocational training, or partnerships with universities.
Retention Programs: Develop and implement strategies to retain talent within the region, including initiatives to support career advancement, work-life balance, and community engagement.
Data Analysis: Utilize data and analytics to track talent trends, measure the effectiveness of talent attraction and retention initiatives, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure that talent attraction and retention efforts promote diversity and inclusion, and work to create an inclusive environment where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive.
Budget Management: Manage budget allocations for talent attraction and retention initiatives, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to achieve desired outcomes.
Partnership Development: Cultivate relationships with external partners such as industry associations, professional networks, and government agencies to leverage resources and expertise in talent attraction and retention efforts.
Community Outreach: Engage with the local community to promote awareness of career opportunities, support workforce development initiatives, and build a positive image of the region as a desirable place to live and work.

We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.
What do you offer?
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, economics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Proven experience in talent acquisition, workforce development, or related fields, preferably in a economic development context.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and experience using data to drive decision-making.
Knowledge of labor market trends, talent development strategies, and best practices in talent attraction and retention.
Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of talent attraction and retention efforts.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Must have effective time management skills with the ability to triage work load and remain flexible to meet demanding priorities
Ability to communicate on diverse levels and maintain confidentiality are required and essential to the performance of assigned duties, ensuring that confidential information is protected; works with partner organizations to support their protocols for confidentiality
Technology skills and experience in the use of software applications such as Microsoft Office, content management databases like Sales Force preferred
Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to include the ability to effectively speak in public
Must be able to work in a stressful and time-sensitive environment with frequent interruptions and deadlines
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel throughout Virginia as well as occasional out-of-state trips – last bullet
Essential Physical Requirements:
Position requires regional travel
Ability to walk rough and uneven terrain
Must be able to operate a personal computer and manipulate a keyboard
What IALR Offers
