Job Description
The Senior Transportation Planner leads or is significantly involved with larger, more complex planning assignments, spearheads project assignments, involving day-to-day task management, staffing, scheduling and technical responsibilities along with client coordination. Planners at this level exercise greater independence and judgment, receiving general supervision from senior management. Projects generally focus on transportation, transit and multi-modal planning, including corridor studies, service planning, alternatives analysis and concept development. Assists with project management activities including budget tracking by task. May be involved in developing proposals and business development activities. Often requires effort outside normal business hours to meet client requests and/or attend meetings.
Duties:• Performs advanced professional work related to variety of planning assignments.
• Assume client relations for some planning studies.
• Assume Assistant Project Manager role - staffing, scope schedule, budget.
• Develops transportation plans, studies and analyses on local and regional basis.
• Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social & economic issues.
• Schedules and conducts meetings with advisory boards, the public, and elected officials.
• Represent the organization in communications and conferences.
• Communicate with Director and Project Managers on a daily basis.
Requirements
• Six years of professional planning experience, or a master's degree in planning or related field and four years of professional planning.
• AICP Certification is preferred.
• Active member of a professional practice organization.
• Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of planning, including funding. Well-developed knowledge of one or more planning disciplines, such as land use planning/zoning, or transportation planning.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
