POSITION DESCRIPTION The New York City office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC NY) seeks a professional to fill the position of Senior Program Officer for Programs. This position reports to Director of Partnerships and Programs and the programs staff. The local New York State program, LISC NY, works with nonprofit, community-based organizations to develop affordable housing, commercial enterprises, community facilities, and nonprofit capacity building efforts. Since its founding in 1979, LISC NY has invested over $2.7 billion, leveraging an additional $6 billion in low-income communities. This has resulted in nearly 40,000 affordable homes built and preserved as well as 1.8 million square feet of retail and community space created. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Oversee the grant management program and monitoring tools for LISC NY; timely and accurately draft and submit funding requests as set forth and in accordance with the LISC NY Programs strategy.
- Manage and oversee the CRM system function for the LISC NY team to maximize alignment between programmatic and funding efforts.
- Create and/or find other programs and resources that will enhance the LISC NY Capacity Building programs, and generally and the neighborhoods specifically.
- Manage reporting and compliance function for the LISC NY fundraising program with internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and submit required reports timely and accurately.
- Create and manage special events in support of the development of programs.
- Oversee the development of print and other media materials in support of the Programs unit.
- Coordinate with, train and supervise other members of staff who have responsibility for neighborhoods/groups participating in the program.
- Prepare programmatic budgets and reports as required.
- Lead a research process that will develop tools for measuring the progress of community development in New York State.
- Assume responsibility for special projects, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience required
- Self-directed, independent workers who takes initiative and can create systems and processes to support the inherent duties of this position.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple, complex assignments at various stages and coordinate with multiple internal and external parties to meet approval and closing deadlines.
- General familiarity with and commitment to the community development sector and the critical role of nonprofit organizations in driving inclusive economic development and preserving the unique cultural heritage of neighborhoods.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effective independently and collaboratively, on a team performing multiple tasks and projects.
- Manage a portfolio of assigned community and economic development programs as part of the LISC NY implementation strategy.
- Plan and manage LISC NY's portfolio of capacity building programs, including community partner assessments, grantmaking, collecting outcome metrics and assessing impact.
- Facilitate and convene meetings, trainings, and peer gatherings to share best practices with program participants, LISC NY partners, the local community, and other public sector and private sector stakeholders.
- Establish and coordinate technical assistance resources for partners.
- Develop and manage relationships with community development partners including community-based organizations, mission-driven developers, and local/state agencies to foster inclusive community and economic development.
- Collaborate with colleagues in development and communications to prepare grant applications and reports on funding for LISC NY programs, including collecting data on programmatic outcomes.
- Produce reports, thought pieces and presentations on LISC NY's work, the field of community development, and related policy issues.
- Support with responding to inquiries from the general public on community and economic development programs and other special projects/initiatives, as necessary
- Assume responsibility for special projects and other assignments, as needed.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS LISC offers a competitive salary ($83,100 - $103,900; salary commensurate with experience and location)* and excellent fringe benefits.
