Position Summary:

Shanty Creek Resorts is seeking a Golf Pro Shop Professional who is passionate about the game of golf and providing exceptional customer service. The Golf Pro Shop Professional will assist with daily operations of the pro shop, including sales, inventory management, customer service, and supporting the overall guest experience at our award-winning golf courses. This role is key to creating a welcoming and organized environment for all golfers at the resort.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Sales (PGA Standards)

  • Greet all guests professionally and warmly, upholding the resort's customer service standards.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations on golf equipment, apparel, and merchandise that meets each guest's unique needs.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of golf equipment and technology in line with PGA guidelines.
  • Manage retail sales transactions, including handling cash, credit, and POS systems, while adhering to best practices for financial integrity.
  • Act as a resort ambassador, promoting upcoming events, tournaments, and teaching opportunities within PGA guidelines.

Retail & Merchandising

  • Ensure the pro shop is fully stocked with the latest golf merchandise, apparel, and equipment.
  • Follow inventory control processes, including ordering, receiving, and restocking merchandise as needed, ensuring alignment with PGA standards for retail management.
  • Create attractive and engaging displays that drive sales and improve the overall guest shopping experience.
  • Track sales data to provide insights into product performance and adjust merchandising strategies accordingly.

Golf Operations Support

  • Assist with scheduling tee times and managing the reservation system, ensuring an organized flow of play in coordination with PGA principles of course management.
  • Coordinate closely with the outside services team, starter, and marshals to ensure smooth course operations and a positive experience for all players.
  • Support tournament and event operations, including scoring, registration, and coordination with vendors, while maintaining a high standard of professionalism in line with PGA rules.
  • Handle any on-course situations with professionalism and tact, ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved in a manner consistent with PGA customer service practices.

Instruction & Player Development (If PGA-Certified)

  • If a PGA member or apprentice, assist with providing golf instruction, clinics, and player development programs.
  • Uphold the PGA's standards for coaching and teaching, offering private and group lessons when appropriate.

Administrative Duties

  • Manage daily financial reconciliation for the pro shop, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Keep track of membership inquiries and sales, providing detailed information about packages and benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with all resort policies, as well as state and federal regulations for safety and employment practices.

Misc:

  • Assist other golf staff with their duties and responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Guest Service/Conduct:

Personal and professional accountability is an important aspect of employment with Shanty Creek Resorts. To that end, all Shanty Creek employees are required to adhere to Resort policies and standards of conduct while providing our guests with the highest level of service possible. No matter their position, all members of our staff may have opportunities to interact with our guests on a daily basis, therefore all employees must:

  • Meet, on a daily basis, the personal appearance and uniform standards as identified by the Shanty Creek Resorts Employee Handbook.
  • Utilize all tools provided to ensure that prompt and correct service and information is being given to our guests.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, maintaining the highest standards of guest service in their interactions with fellow employees, vendors, and most importantly our guests.
  • This position requires extensive guest contact and decisions that directly affect the experience of Shanty Creek Resorts’ group clients. Adherence to the Resorts’ standards of service is critical to the success of the incumbent.

Professional Experience:

This position requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in the operation of a golf pro shop, preferably in a resort/hotel setting.

Education:

A minimum of one year post secondary education is required..

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of golf, including an understanding of golf equipment, apparel, and PGA rules and regulations.
  • Experience in retail, customer service, or golf operations, with a preference for candidates with experience in a PGA facility or resort environment.
  • PGA apprentice or associate membership is highly desirable; a non-member with strong industry experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in point-of-sale systems, golf management software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak golf season hours.
