Job Description
Summary As a Paralegal you are a part of a team, working directly with Attorneys and other Paralegals representing employers in sponsoring foreign workers for immigration sponsorship. Primary responsibilities include assisting in case processing by preparing immigration forms, and drafting support letters and other correspondence to prepare for filing.The duties include interfacing with clients in person, over the phone, and via email.Critical competencies include organization, attention to detail, strong research and writing skills, ability to multi-task, and work in a fast pace environment to meet deadlines.
Required Education & Experience Completion of the following:
- Bachelor's degree OR (a) Associate of Arts degree and not less than one year of in-house training as a Paralegal Assistant or Paralegal Intern, or (b) one to five years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney or Senior Paralegal, demonstrating a superior command of the skills necessary to be a Paralegal;
- AND, in addition to (a) or (b), Completion of an educational program for Paralegals that has been approved by the American Bar Association ("ABA") or offered by an accredited institution which is in substantial compliance with ABA guidelines for the approval of Paralegal programs is preferred.
Preferred Education & Experience - Law Firm experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge in the following areas preferred:
- PERM labor certification process and recruitment;
- EB-2, EB-3, and EB-1 permanent residence applications;
- L-1 petitions for individual and blanket petitions;
- H-1B and Labor Condition Applications and compliance; and
- TN, O-1 petition preparation.

- Paralegal (75%)
- Perform intake and case initiation once matter is assigned.
- Draft Petitions/Applications and file with government agency.
- Write detailed persuasive letters.
- Analyze immigration documents of foreign national employee and family members.
- Analyze the position requirements provided by the corporate client.
- Maintain client contact information.
- Provide status updates.
- File documents in proper order.
- Update case management system.
- Learn procedural and processing requirements for various types of non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications.
- Build knowledge of Firm and client processes.
- General and Administrative (25%)
- Responsible for time entry, scanning, emailing, scheduling, and handling mail.
- Update visa and expiration reports.
- Assist in Firm marketing for practice area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
