The Community Engaged Scholars Program at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for CESP 20a â“ Special Topics in Community Engagement. This is a two-credit course being offered in Spring 2025.Â
By inviting an array of Brandeis faculty and staff into the classroom, CESP 20a introduces students to contemporary social issues (e.g., Aging, Children/Youth, Climate Change and Environmental Justice, Criminal Justice, LGBTQ Rights, Racial Justice, Disability and Inclusion, Health Inequalities, Immigration, etc.). In addition to arranging these guest lectures, the role of the instructor is to support students in reflecting on their next steps for learning, engagement, and advocacy.Â
The class meets once, weekly, for 80 minutes. Typically, the course has been offered on Tuesdays, 3:15-5:15pm, but there is flexibility in scheduling.Â
Candidates with a MA, MPP, MPH, JD, PhD and teaching or other experience relevant to the course will be given preference.  We especially welcome applications from individuals with a strong background in community engaged research, pedagogy, and or practice. Graduate students who have advanced to candidacy and have at least two years of experience working in community-based organizations are welcome to apply.
