General Description:
Grades 6-8 World Language teachers are members of the school community and participate in faculty and department meetings, communicate with families about learning in world language, complete progress reports and report cards, and have school based duties in addition to teaching world language lessons.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Teaching grades 6-8 world language lessons
Multi-modal instruction in the three modes of communication
Participation in monthly world language meetings
Requirements Qualifications:
Advanced oral proficiency in Spanish/Chinese/French
Demonstrated ability to teach simplified characters * (Chinese only)
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English
Demonstrated knowledge of effective world language pedagogy, with an emphasis on oral proficiency
Demonstrated ability to use a variety of materials and modes of instruction, including use of technology and access to online authentic resources
Demonstrated effective techniques for classroom management
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues and community members
Keen organizational skills
Valid Massachusetts DESE teaching licensure, Foreign Language [Spanish/Chinese/French], Grades 5-12
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Education
3 years' experience teaching American middle grades students
