EFuT Technician III/Enhanced Fuselage Trainer Aviation Technician III
Summary/Objective
The EFuT Technician III position applies advanced knowledge and experience to solve unusually complex or system problems; those that typically are not able to be solved solely by reference to maintenance manuals or similar documents. Incumbent will implement training plans for EFuT Technicians I & II and evaluate their progression. EFuT Technician III will document training forms as required. At this level, the incumbent has demonstrated the ability to solve a variety of complex simulator and or aircraft system problems.
Essential Functions

● Must be qualified, trained, and knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of the C-130J MATS EFuT devices and specialty peripheral equipment such as aircraft hydraulic system, aircraft flight controls, aircraft landing gear, aircraft structures, and aircraft avionics.
● Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems, those typically solved by properly interpreting maintenance manuals or similar documents.
● Assists in the design of minor hardware system modifications and software programs to stay current with aircraft configuration, address obsolescence form/fit/function, and to improve simulator operability.
● Provides technical guidance and training to EFuT Technician I & II & III employees.
● Conducts quality control inspections and inspects maintenance work performed using aircraft technical orders and trainer-unique maintenance manuals.
● Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities.
● Works with Engineering in regards to non-standard situations.
● Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipment and documents maintenance activities utilizing the logistics management database system. (Documenting maintenance activities include but are not limited to: work order generation and updates, repair action documentation, issuing, returning, and adjusting inventory, ensuring inventory records are up to date and accurate, and other material control duties as assigned.)
● Assist students and instructors in the operation of the training devices to include Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) activities (e.g., set up, power-on/off, daily operational readiness testing, initialization, and other assistance as required).
● Uses knowledge of simulator and aircraft systems to interpret advanced technical data.
● Interprets and works with computer systems utilizing various and multiple operating systems.
● May be appointed to oversee shift personnel to ensure scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, unscheduled maintenance, and data tracking are performed to specifications.
● Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs aircraft subsystems, mechanical components, airframe, power system, HVAC system, computers, and associated equipment .
● Performs systems interface/fault isolation on aircraft systems and simulation.
● Interprets mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schematics and drawings and makes simplified versions where aircraft to simulation interfaces exist.
● Conduct inventory inspections, update, and record stock levels, and report the status, excess inventory, and obsolescence issues to the C-130J MATS CLS Mgr.
● Monitor and report failure-prone or obsolete parts to the C-130J MATS CLS Mgr. in-accordance-with program processes.
● Utilize program EDMS to support inventory levels, off-site repairs, transactions, and calibration requirements.
● Maintains good relations with customers and ensures information flows within technical organization.
● Ensure staff compliance with health, safety, security, and local base procedures.
Competencies
Required skills and abilities to effectively perform this position include, but are not limited to:
● Must be highly proficient in the use and operation of test equipment to perform pre- and post-operational tests on installed equipment to perform preventive maintenance using preventative maintenance cards and instruction books.
● Must possess advanced skills necessary to diagnose and isolate malfunctions in electronic systems; align, adjust and calibrate installed training devices; interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schematics and prepare simplified versions.
● Must possess advanced skills to perform calibrations, adjustments and tests on electronic equipment; analyze operation, verify discrepancies, isolate malfunctions and replace defective components used in installed devices
● Must possess and maintain advanced proficiency in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results, and the use of program listings to isolate faults and be adept in the use of test equipment, repair of micro/miniature printed circuit boards, electro/mechanical systems and devices to include projection display systems, computer controlled motion and electronic control loading systems and computer generated sound systems.
● Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
● Must be able to drive a forklift, man-lift, or other material handling support equipment as required.
● Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex word and technical documents/diagrams. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations on complex subjects.
● Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
● Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds overhead.
● Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
● Must be able to walk, stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under the device; must be able to walk, bend, and crawl on top of device using a harness system.
● Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and the surrounding environment.
● Must be able to distinguish colors.
Education and Experience
Technical College Degree with five (5) years’ experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and operation of full flight simulators, or seven (7) years’ experience with no degree.
Aircraft maintenance work experience within an Aerospace Repair shop environment is required. An Airframe & Propulsion license is highly desired. Must meet the minimum education, experience, and qualifications of an EFuT Technician II. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills.
Work Environment, Programs, and Tools This position operates in a shop floor environment. Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, loud noises. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This position will be on site at Little Rock, AR and will require adherence to the Government site hours of operation. This position is a full-time hourly non-exempt position, expected to work 40 hours a payroll period. This position may require evening/weekend work and work outside of the Government site hours of operations when Program support is needed. The ability to work overtime is required. Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.
Travel Must be willing and able to travel. Domestic and International travel may be required.
Security Clearance DoD Secret Clearance is required or the ability to obtain one.
Security+ Certification CompTIA Security+ Certification is required or the ability to obtain one.
