PURPOSE

The Compliance Investigator conducts investigations of both Civil Rights (Title IX sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence including stalking and intimate partner violence, and other protected class discrimination and harassment) complaints and non-civil rights complaints filed by faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students at the University through the various campus complaint forums (Ethics Point, Civil Rights Non-Civil Rights, Complaint Resolution, and Appeals).

DESCRIPTION

Functional Area 1: Compliance

Percent Effort: 65%

* Conduct investigations of alleged civil rights discrimination, sexual harassment and/or related retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation and gender identity.

* Prepares well-written reports and other workplace complaints.

* Plan and establish timelines for investigations (identify and interview witnesses, gather and secure relevant documentation, prepare a comprehensive investigation report, etc.).

* Conduct credibility assessments and determinations and support your findings.

* Continuously identify and integrate best practices to ensure quality investigations.

* Maintain accurate and thorough investigative files, reports, and documentation, as appropriate.

* Provide regular updates and status reports as necessary.

Functional Area 2: Employee Development

Percent Effort: 20%

* Provides assistance to the Civil Rights Officer/Title IX Coordinator in compliance-related activities.

* Schedule, coordinate, and assist in training events.

Functional Area 3: Support

Percent Effort: 15%

* Generate applicable reports as needed.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in business, human resource, pre-law emphasis, or related field.

* Two (2) or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas: investigations, regulatory compliance, consulting, risk management, legal, or business administration.

* Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem-solving techniques, interviewing, and investigation.

* Strong critical thinking skills, writing skills, and attention to detail.

* Use superb judgment when dealing with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

* Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem-solving techniques, interviewing, and investigation.

* Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations

* Advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database programs skills.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Master's Degree, in Management, Business Administration, or related field.

* PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP certification

* Five years of experience working in civil rights compliance or experience in research, writing, and editing documents/reports.

* ATIXA investigator certification.

* 5 years of experience in Title IX/EEO investigations in a university or corporate setting

SALARY $4,166.66- $4,583.33 Monthly Approx. ($50,000-$55,000 Annually Approx.)
