As a
commercial linesexcess adjuster , you will work with our insureds to resolve claims that exceed a customer's self-retention accurately and in a timely fashion using discretion and independent judgment. You will have the opportunity to investigate and determine coverage and the extent of any liability involving complex, contested, and litigated claims with the highest complexity and exposures. You will also oversee investigations by third-party administrators, insured and/or defense counsels, serving as a subject matter expert providing recommendations and advice to internal and external customers. This is a high-level and highly visible claims position that has a significant business relations component.
Duties and responsibilities - Evaluate exposures and maintain accurate and timely reserves on all files
- Oversee the investigation by the third-party administrator (TPA), insured and/or defense counsel
- Negotiate claim settlements directly or through the TPA, insured and/or defense counsel
- Travel to mediations, claim audits or other claim-related appointments as deemed necessary
- Provide expertise in litigation management to self-insured clients
- Conduct collateral audits of claims within self-retention
Must-have qualifications - A minimum of 6 years claims handling.
- {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of 3 years claims handling experience.
Preferred skills - Experience handling large exposure commercial auto injury cases
- Experience handling litigated cases in multiple states
- Proficient in self-retention programs
- Ability to understand and interpret contracts in order to evaluate coverage
- Understanding of excess insurance programs and coverage towers
Compensation - $93,200- $124,300/year
- Gainshare bonus up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
