Job Description

About Us:

Ambience is developing the most capable AI systems for healthcare and medicine. As healthcare costs soar to 17.3% of US GDP and a projected shortage of 100,000 physicians within the next decade, the need for AI is critical. Our frontline healthcare workers are overwhelmed, with only 27% of the average clinician's day spent on direct patient care.

Our vision is to equip every healthcare worker with an advanced AI co-pilot. We believe that people, augmented by AI, will enable us to deliver higher quality healthcare at a lower cost, improving the experience for everyone involved.

Headquartered in San Francisco, we have secured $100M in funding from top investors, including Kleiner Perkins, OpenAI Startup Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, Optum Ventures, Human Capital, and Martin Ventures. We collaborate with leading AI experts such as Jeff Dean, Richard Socher, Pieter Abbeel, and AIX Ventures.

Join us in the endeavor of accelerating the path to safe & useful clinical super intelligence by becoming part of our community of problem solvers, technologists, clinicians, and innovators.

The Role: As Chief of Staff to the Co-Founder and CEO, your mission will be to lead the Office of the CEO and support him across all strategic, commercial, operational, and financial projects. You will serve as a source of truth, liaising between the CEO and key functional leaders to ensure data-driven decisions are made and carried out. You will be pivotal in commercial initiatives, collaborating with prospective/current clients, ecosystem partners, and other external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with the Co-Founder and CEO to drive critical initiatives, provide a real-time view of the organization, and broker key information.
  • Increase the value of executive team interactions by facilitating decision-making, building action plans, and tracking the progress of projects.
  • Support the CEO’s commercial activities, including new client growth, ecosystem partnership development, and relationship management, to drive revenue growth.
  • Drive thorough research and analysis to support strategic decision-making processes and ensure the CEO is read in on organizational priorities and can make informed decisions.
  • Partner with the CEO and broader financial leadership to drive revenue operations, monitor core business KPIs, and manage investor/board relations.

Who you are:

  • You have 6+ years of experience in roles across consulting/finance and early-stage operations/strategy/growth; healthcare experience required.
  • You are highly organized and comfortable with complexity and ambiguity, capable of managing multiple critical initiatives in parallel.
  • You have a track record of producing professional and high-caliber external documentation; you have impeccable attention to detail and take pride in delivering the highest quality work product consistently.
  • You have a strong understanding of Ambience’s clients and market dynamics and are capable of conveying our nuanced and bespoke value proposition to various audiences.
  • You are externally backable and comfortable holding your own in conversations with healthcare executives, investors, and other key stakeholders.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to resourcefully drive outsized outcomes, even on accelerated timelines and with startup-level resources; you prefer solving the hardest problems first.
  • You are emotionally intelligent and empathetic, capable of representing the CEO while adapting to a diverse set of working styles and priorities within our organization.
  • You are a low-ego team player who prioritizes co-discovering the best ideas, even if they’re not your ideas.
  • You value being a kind, encouraging, and supportive teammate to others.
  • You are willing to travel to certain key conferences and events as needed.

Location:

  • You are based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work in-office 3+ days a week.

Pay Transparency:
The base compensation for this role is approximately $190,000 - $215,000 per year, excluding equity. We’ve intentionally allocated a wider range so that candidates have more flexibility to choose the desired cash/equity split that works for them. Philosophically, we lean towards generous equity grants so that our team truly gets to share in the impact they create. Are you outside of the range? We encourage you to still apply: we take an individualized approach to ensure that compensation accounts for all of the life factors that matter for each candidate.

Being at Ambience:

  • An opportunity to work with cutting edge AI technology, on a product that dramatically improves the quality of life for healthcare providers and the quality of care they can provide to their patients.
  • Dedicated budget for personal development, including access to world class mentors, advisors, and an in-house executive coach.
  • Work alongside a world-class, diverse team that is deeply mission aligned.
  • Ownership over your success and the ability to significantly impact the growth of our company.
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation with benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage, paid maternity/paternity leave, quarterly retreats, unlimited PTO, and a 401(k) plan.
