Booking Producer (News/Political)

Huckabee Show and other TBN Productions

*This position may be based out of one of the following TBN HUB locations: Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New York, or Orlando.

Job Summary:

Booking producer who lives the daily news cycle and national political scene. Must have a talent for building influential relationships in Washington DC and major state governments to lock down influential political voices and topical experts who can comment and provide perspective on major issues and events. This team member will be responsible for pitching, negotiating, and managing newsmaker and news talker guest bookings for the weekly Huckabee program, as well as any digital exclusives online. In addition, research and writing of backgrounder briefs for the host as well as proposed talking point. Researching, writing, and producing potential set-up pieces to enhance the guest interview, as well as video/photo gathering to visualize the guest segment.

The Booking Producer will work with the Host, Senior Producer, Line Producer and in tandem with the Booking Producer for entertainment/culture/faith, as well as other members of the program team to meet or exceed their duties on deadline and within show budget.

Duties and Tasks:

• Pitch day-to-day news topic and guest ideas for the weekly program to show host and senior producer
• Develop and maintain relationships with high profile guests and their staff to book politicians, analyst and experts who meet program standards
• Conduct pre-interview research and calls/video chats to evaluate potential guests and gather information for producers and host
• Manage the program’s guest bookings for broadcast and social media, along with television specials for the TBN network
• Manage logistics for booked guests including coordinating ground transportation and remote studio locations or field crew in cooperation with Nashville producers
• Attend weekly show meeting (remote or in person) and long-range meetings
• Research and write backgrounder brief for news guests along with host scripts in support of guests and set-up support video

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills – must be assertive, but respectful
• Strong contacts in Washington political and state-level arenas
• Strong writing skills
• Strong working knowledge of news issues and high viewer value topical content
• Strong working knowledge of broadcast program producing
• Ability to analyze complex issues and present them in a strong pitch with an A,B and C guest option
• Organized in thought, actions and habits and able to meet deadlines with consistency and excellence under pressure
• Ability to meet assignments with minimal support and supervision
• Ability to work with flexibility under tight deadlines, lean budgets and changing events
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships with show staff and production team members
• Willing to travel, if assigned.
• A good understanding of the Christian community and sensitive to content that may not be appropriate for the TBN audience

Preferred Qualifications:

College or Professional experience. Seven years minimum media experience preferred
