Compensation:  ~$20/hour

Total hours:  20 hours per week

Shifts available:  Mon through Fri – 5 pm to 9 pm

Full job description

I am looking for a long-term caregiver to do fun activities with my son. The caregiver will also support him with daily living activities through hands-on assistance, supervision or cueing. I would like for him to learn how to care for himself. 

About our brother  

Things he enjoys: 

• Music and dancing (took piano lessons and knows all of the lyrics to most NSYNC songs)
• Playing games (Uno, Jenga, matching, etc.)
• Helping with cooking and especially loves sharing the food he and his caregiver cooked together
• Helping around the house and doing chores, especially anything that he can see the results of his work!
• Movies & TV - some of his favorites are Full House, Tarzan, Bollywood movies
• Talking to people and practicing better conversational skills, such as listening, asking different kinds of questions, etc. 

Conditions:

• Autistic
• Intellectual disability (32 years old, but has the intellectual capacity of a 4 year old)
• Fully mobile
• Speaks in words, phrases, and some sentences
• Seizures (only when asleep and very rare now)

Job responsibilities 

• Help with daily caretaking: eating, grooming, dressing, bathing (note: bathing not required for evening shifts) 
• Services to help the individual learn how to care for themselves
• Assist with behavioral, speech, and physical therapy exercises
• Do necessary light housekeeping to maintain a sanitary and safe environment & teach him housekeeping
• Provide emotional support
• Inform parent about uncommon events
• Assist with teaching appropriate behaviors
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
• Keep him safe and respect privacy and confidential information

We expect you to be reliable/dependable, on-time, polite and a good communicator. 

Experience in housekeeping tasks and caring for individuals with disabilities will make you a strong candidate. You must be 18 years old.
