Job Description

Intrepid sets the standard for delivering excellence in the federal marketplace and is known for treating employees like family. We provide our employees with a challenging and supportive work environment, paired with a competitive salary and an industry-leading 401 (k) contribution. We are looking for an Air and Missile Defense (AMD) System/External Interfaces Integrator – WISLA Phase II/NAREW to support Phase II of Poland’s WISLA program—an FMS initiative deploying the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) and integrating it with a mix of U.S. and Polish air and missile defense assets. This role is responsible for designing, integrating, and validating external system interfaces between IBCS and non-U.S. components such as radars, effectors, and launchers, as well as tactical data links and military messages with external sources. This is a hands-on engineering role that works across interface definition, real-time data exchange, software/hardware integration, and field-level validation—collaborating directly with U.S. DoD stakeholders, OEMs (e.g., Northrop Grumman), and Polish defense industry partners (e.g., PGZ, PIT-RADWAR).

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Lead the technical definition, development, and integration of external interfaces between IBCS and Polish-provided or NATO systems.
  • Review and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), and data exchange specifications for exportable systems.
  • Collaborate with Polish industry to ensure successful integration of assets such as Bystra radar, CAMM launchers, and Jelcz-based platforms (E-Ops/C-Ops/F-Ops and MCC).
  • Develop and implement middleware components, adapters, or stubs to support external system communication via protocols such as DDS, TCP/UDP, JREAP-C, and Link 16.
  • Participate in Software Integration Events (SIEs), lab-based validation (SIL/HIL), and in-country test campaigns in Poland.
  • Support system-level troubleshooting, performance verification, and root cause analysis related to external interfaces.
  • Ensure all integration work is compliant with ITAR, export control, and FMS case requirements, including packaging and disclosure guidelines.
  • Coordinate with U.S. Army program offices (e.g., PM AMD, PEO Missiles and Space), Northrop Grumman, and Polish MOD for alignment on integration milestones and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

At a minimum you should have:

  • US citizenship, and residency near Huntsville, AL, or be willing to relocate.
  • An active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems integration and external interface development for defense or aerospace systems.
  • Experience working with command and control (C2) systems, ideally IBCS, AMDPCS, or similar.
  • Proficient in interface development using C++, Python, XML, and real-time communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with networked tactical data exchange and middleware (e.g., DDS, TDL, Link 16). Experience supporting integration within FMS or ITAR-restricted environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across multi-national teams and technical disciplines.
  • Travel required – up to 25% to support CONUS/OCONUS (e.g, Poland, UK) test sites, OEM facilities, etc.

You will be highly desirable if you have:

  • TS or NATO SECRET clearance.
  • Direct experience supporting WISLA Phase I or II, or similar NATO/FMS C2 integration programs.
  • Familiarity with Polish defense systems or local suppliers such as PGZ, PIT-RADWAR, and Mesko.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo, DOORS).
  • Background in export-compliant software development, coalition security architecture, or cross-domain solutions.
  • Knowledge of NATO STANAG standards for command, control, and communications.

*All employees may be called upon to provide their knowledge and/or expertise to proposal efforts including contract re-competes.

**This job description is subject to change at any time.
